Most Valuable Player: Christie Thompson.
Oh you picked her last year. True, we did, but in a World Cup year where
Canada solidified its place in the top four in the world, Thompson was a
finisher for a side that really needed one. A leader even though she was
out on the wing (like the American winner, Patty Jervey), she is an
important part of the women's team and its future. Back of the Year: Kelly McCallum. Filled in kicking goals, but mostly for organizing the backline, especially in defense. Honorable Mention: Sherri Sparling Forward of the Year: Dawn Kleim. A huge asset in hunting down and winning ball from the flank. A key part of Canada's game plan and had an excellent World Cup. Honorable Mention: Kat Todd, Shiels. Collegiate Player of the Year: Sommer Christie . Team of the Year: Canada. They faltered near the end, but held off the upstarts Scotland beautifully. Coach of the Year: Ric Suggit |
