Final Men DII Top 25

(Dobson Images)May 11, 2009 – The final ERugbyNews men’s DII college rankings are here. The obvious change is that Middlebury, undefeated all season, moves from #2 to #1.
Previous #1 Miami drops to #3 after their two-point loss to Wisconsin. We keep Wisconsin at #2 but with reservations, as South Florida pushed Middlebury perhaps a little harder back in the quarterfinals. Even further back, you might point to Rhode Island’s close loss in the New England quarters. But URI didn’t have the consistently good games to earn a spot in the top 25.
It’s all about consistency in qualify. Middlebury showed it all year. And they are a true DII team, with a male undergraduate enrollment of less than 1,200. At least five of the teams ranked below have a male enrollment of around 10,000, or more.
