Pier 40, NY, NY - The 4th Annual Midnight 7s, hosted by the Old Blue RFC, was halted by lightning storms shortly after 11 pm when pool play concluded. None of the semifinals for the three divisions – the eight team Men’s Northeast RFU Qualifier, the eight team Men’s Social or the five team Women’s – were completed.

Since storms forced the conclusion of the event before playoff rounds could occur, tournament organizers had to determine winners based upon pool play rounds alone.

Men's Qualifier: NYAC & Long Island
This division served as one of three Northeast RFU 7s Men's Qualifiers, with table points awarded toward the determination of seedings for the NRU 7s Championship in two weeks. Both Pool-A winner New York Athletic Club and Pool-B winner Long Island went 3-0 in preliminary play.

The NYAC defeated host Old Blue 24-5, Morris 19-12 and the Village Lions 29-0. Long Island defeated White Plains 26-10, New York 35-12 and Boston 24-12.

The semifinals, featuring NYAC v Boston and Long Island v Old Blue, were cancelled when the storm hit.

After consultation with and approval of the semifinal sides, tournament organizers announced that Long Island and the NYAC were each awarded 4 points, Boston 3, and Old Blue 2 points.

Men's Social: Smooth Criminals
The Smooth Criminals, a collection of Old Blue players whose 15 tries were the most in the entire tournament, were awarded the Social Division trophy based upon three shutout wins in Pool B. The Criminals defeated Strandz Wrecking Crew 10-0, NoJo 43-0 and New Paltz 30-0.

Pool A winners, the Burninators, composed of Old Blue/Columbia University players, took second place. They defeated Long Island B 24-19 and the Village Lions B 12-0 and were trailing winless White Plains B 0-5 early in the first half of their third pool match when the storm hit. They were already guaranteed the Pool A Championship based on head-to-head tiebreakers, irrespective of the halted match’s outcome.

Pool A runner up Long Island B took third on points differential, and fourth went to the Strandz Wrecking Crew on the basis of a better point differential over NoJo when play was suspended.

Women: New York
Undefeated New York I was awarded the championship of the five-team Women's Division based on a 22-0 pool win over New York II and a 32-0 pool win over Village Lions II.
