Penn State has won the Big 10 Tournament with a 37-10 defeat of Indiana in the final.
Ohio State defeated Michigan State 21-7 for third, while Michigan took 5th 22-0 over Purdue.
Brown and Army are on another collision course in the New England women’s DI College league.
Army was dominant once more. Having beaten UConn 76-0 last week, they beat Providence College 89-0 this week.
Brown is hardly any worse, beating Yale 69-0 last weekend and another Ivy League rival, Dartmouth, 24-0 on Saturday.
But they should also be wary of UMass. The former national playoff contender are the third team in the league to post two shutouts in the opening two weekends. UMass downed Dartmouth last week 25-0, and then dominated possession against Vassar to win 52-0.
In New York State, new DI team Hamilton is now 3-0 after beating Brockport 20-12. Cornell moved to 2-0 with a 33-5 defeat of Buffalo, while Syracuse bounced back from their opening loss to beat Ithaca 31-0.
Further west, Women Cougar Rugby (BYU) won again.
The Cougars got of to a slow start against Utah State and it wasn’t until late in the first half that they got a try - Star Bollinger scoring in the corner. Utah State bounced back with a try to make it 10-5 BYU at the break.
Both teams came back with a lot more intensity in the half, with the Aggies home crowd adding some adrenaline to USU’s effort. The Cougars got a break forcing a turnover on the Aggies’s 10 meter line, with scrumhalf Kara Longhurst attacking the short side creating an overlap for another try in the corner and a 17-5 lead.
Kristi Jackson’s try put it away.
“We learned a lot from this game,” said Cougar coach Tom Waqa. “Utah State is good team, who rallied behind their pack. We will take this and move forward.”
