Philly Women Savor Key Win
Sunday Sep 27, 2009 in Women Clubs

The Philadelphia women’s club improved to 1-1 in the Competitive Region 3 women’s DI league after defeating Boston 31-17 Sunday.
Kristin Aliberto scored two tries and Philly got touchdowns from Emily Record, Nicole Belkin and Emily Tunney in the victory.
“Boston came out really strong, played a good kicking game and caught us snoozing,” said Philadelphia coach Lisa Rosen. “We took a long time to get warmed up. But I was pleased with our forwards. They were disciplined and ended up being dominant.”
In other CR3 action, Atlanta shut out Orlando 41-0 to move into first place. The Harlequins, however, have played one more game than 2-0 NOVA, who have already beaten the Atlanta club.
Next weekend Atlanta plays 0-2 Boston and NOVA plays 1-1 Philadelphia. A week later Boston plays NOVA and Philly plays Orlando. The top two teams in the league get a bye to the women’s DI national quarterfinals. The remainder play off in the first round, which features eight teams.
CR1 champs, CR2 champs, and CR3 #1 and #2 get the byes.
If Atlanta beats Boston with a bonus point they guarantee themselves one of those byes.
