Wards Island, New York, NY - Led by the three tries of current Eagle wing Vanesha McGee and two by former Eagle Tyshawn Henry, the New York Women came back from an early deficit to defeat a very competitive Keystone side 39-17 in the second week of the Women’s Premier League.

Things started off well for the side from Philadelphia when Eagle wing Jen Sinkler scored a spectacular try in the 6th minute. Sinkler fielded a kick 40 meters from NY’s line, pop-kicked over defenders, fielded the ball on the fly and raced in for an unconverted try, 5-0.
A try three minutes later by New York wing Jenna Flateman leveled the scores, 5-5.
Keystone dominated territorially for much of the first half but failed to capitalize on New York infractions as penalty goals by flyhalf Ines Rodriguez went astray in the 17th and 23rd minutes. Keystone did, however, take a 10-5 lead moments later when center Lauren Rosso went 35 meters down the sideline for an unconverted try.
New York took the lead in the 29th minute when Tyshawn Henry scored from in close and former Eagle Hedwig Aerts converted, 12-10. Despite being a player down when Eagle prop Phaidra Knight was yellow carded, New York increased its lead to 19-10 when Vanesha McGee scored at the end of a multi player movement in the 36th minute and Aerts converted.
New York scored again six minutes after the restart when Tyshawn Henry touched down a ball that had been grubbed ahead into in-goal. Aerts converted and then added a penalty goal in the 13th minute to increase New York’s lead to 29-10.
Vanesha McGee got her second try in the 22nd minute, breaking tackles and beating three Keystone defenders during a 40-meter run, 34-10.
Keystone refused to throw in the towel and their efforts were rewarded in the 31st minute when Devin Keller scored a try by the posts that Rodriguez converted, 34-17.
New York, however, would have the last word when Vanesha McGee scored her third try in injury time, bringing the final score to 39-17.
