May 1, 2009 – Wisconsin and Middlebury will meet in the men’s DII college final Saturday after each won their semifinal.

For Wisconsin it was a supremely tense afternoon against Midwest rivals Miami. Only one try was scored in the game as wing Webster Schelble kicked three penalties for Wisconsin, and two Miami kickers hit hit four for Miami. But a try five minutes into the second half saw Wisconsin through 14-12.

Middlebury had to work for it as well against Georgetown, trading tried with the DC team in the early going. The two teams changed sides with Georgetown leading 8-5, but a torrid Middlebury scoring surge, with center Brian Sirkia, No. 8 Will Stewart, and center Ari Silverman running in tries in the first 17 minute sof the second half. Sirikia made all those tries count for the maximum with his kicking, staking Middlebury to a 26-11 lead. Middlebury put it all away with three tries late to win going away 46-18.
