The University of Utah proved stern hosts for Washington State Saturday as they defeated the Cougars 78-5.

Fullback Naki Angilau and scrumhalf Don Pati both scored two tries, while the back row of Mike Kimball, Danny James and Mike Juszczak led defensively.

“Kimball and James were very good at flanker and had 15 tackles each,” said Utah head coach Blake Burdette. “I and Mike Juszczak was very active and I was pleased to see his effort.”

Burdette said his team played “almost” a full 80 minutes.

“It was a great effort by the boys, and they took care of some things we really focused on in practice,” Burdette said, adding that the team’s unofficial tackle rate was 93 percent.

“WSU was no slouch,” Burdette added. “They ran hard and I think they will show well this year.”
