West College League Heat Up

The West RFU college season moves slowly but inexorably into the meat of the schedule.

This weekend in the West-Central, Truman State takes on Kansas. KU lost 50-0 to Kansas State last week, while Truman State was defeated by Colorado State in a friendly. Truman’s score v. CSU was about the same as Kansas State’s score, leading most to conclude that Truman is favored over KU.

In the West-West, it’s all on. Colorado, winners over a surprisingly competitive New Mexico last weekend, will play Colorado State in Boulder.

As usual this is one of the most competitive leagues in college rugby, with all five – CU, CSU, New Mexico, Air Force and Wyoming all capable of making the playoffs.

New Mexico, which lost to Colorado 33-20 last week, travels to Colorado Springs to take on the United States Air Force Academy.

Air Force led Utah late last weekend before succumbing to the Utes in Salt Lake City.

All, then, on the line in the West as the season really begins.
