The Detroit Tradesmen are standing clear on top of the Midwest Eastern Conference after a big away victory over the Cincinnati Wolfhounds by a to-be-confirmed score of 35-15.
“They came out hard and we were flat,” said Cincinnati coach Nick Lauterbach. “Detroit are a good, strong team and they took it to us. We have just a few things to fix, but it was frustrating because we can play better.”
Pearl City hammered the Chicago Lions 60-0. The Bears were led by an outstanding performance by their forwards. Openside flanker Mike Bunce showed a high work rate in a convincting game for Pearl City.
Mystic River rebounded from a 24-20 halftime deficit against South Shore to sink the Anchors 63-24, scoring 43 unanswered points in the second half.
The Boston-area club got three tries from young wing sensation Dimitri Efthimou and two from wing Joe Shurmaitis in what became a rout. Their snappy fullback Nick Blincoe scored as did USA hopeful prop Jake Sprague, as well as Jamie Green and Ted White.
In Met NY, the New York club beat Old Blue 26-10 to move to 2-0 and all along on top of that league.
And in the Mid-Atlantic, Baltimore-Chesapeake got off to a good start with a 19-5 defeat of the Pittsburgh Harlequins. Will Knipscher scored two tries and Giancarlo Diviacchi had one, with Oliver Maddocks adding two conversions, for the Brumbies.
