The New York Athletic Club won their first ever Remembrance Cup Saturday, defeating Glendale in the annual 9-11-01 tribute event 61-27.

The Cup is played every fall in remembrance of NYAC players Sean Lugano, Brent Woodall and Mark Ludvigsen who perished in the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

This year, the Raptors traveled to New York to play and were soundly defeated. Tim Ryland galloped in for three tries while Shawn Rafferty claimed two. Sean Lugano’s brother, Mike,  also scored a try.

Glendale answered with two tries from Mike Pettes and single touchdowns from John McGuire and Florence.
