Glendale, Colo. - The Midwest college all-stars impressed Thursday, brushing aside the Military Collegiates 59-6 in the semifinals of the National Collegiate All-Star Championships Tier B.

The game was halted for a time due to lightning, but that didn’t throw the Thunderbirds off at all, as they kept scoring after the break.

Midwest will take on the South on Saturday at Infinity Park to decide who will earn promotion to Tier A in 2010.

“The boys put in a solid performance and executed relatively well,” said coach Ron Bowers. “The front three did a solid job and allowed the backs to control the game.  We've got a massive challenge coming with the South.  They are a strong team and we can't afford to make any mistakes or commit penalties.”

Bowers also said that the South is the class of the second tier, and “and will be a very, very strong team.”
