In the Guinness Premiership in England, Saracens won on Saturday 18-14 over London Irish to open the season. Chris Wyles started for Sarries and set up a crucial try. Hayden Smith did not play. Mike MacDonald is still awaiting visa clearance to join Leeds, which tied Newcastle 9-9 in their opening Premiership match.
