The Sunshine Coast Stingrays secured a 38-15 win over Norths Eagles in Round 17 of Queensland Premier Rugby, with USA flyhalf Mike Hercus providing a needed boost to the club.

The Norths lineup boasted Queensland’s newest Wallaby, scrumhalf William Genia along with fellow Queensland Reds Blair Connor and Leroy Houston. But the Stingrays played better as a team, and Hercus did well in his kicking, slotting a conversion and three penalties, and was effective at opening up holes for his backs.

The Stingrays rolled, and promoted plenty of talk about whether they would be the 15th team added to what is now the Super 14.
