Maccabiah USA Team Wins Bronze

The USA Maccabiah team defeated Israel Wendesday at the Maccabiah Games to earn the Bronze Medal.

Led by Zach Test, Jonathan Schaeffer, Josh Slater, Elan Hoffman and 43-year-old Gary Puterman, the Americans downed the hosts 46-3 at the quadrennial “Jewish Olympics.”

“It was a good team effort,” said USA coach Craig Levine. “Minimal penalties and turnovers. We look forward to building the program into the next games in 2013 with events each year.”

Meanwhile defending champs South Africa defeated Canada 12-5 to take 5th.
