May 8, 2009 – With their 29-5 win over Stonehill in the national final Shippensburg secured the #1 ranking in the ERugbyNews DII Women’s college rankings.
With further study of playoff results, and going back to results in the fall we switch things around. Michigan were extremely impressive in the late going, and pushing Shippensburg to within a try means they go up to #2.
Stonehill, while a fine team, found themselves struggling with their overall team size. They finished 2nd in the nation, but drop to #3 in our rankings. Bowdoin, who pushed Stonehill close, are #4, and Delaware, who also pushed Stonehill, are #5. Marist, whose result against Shippensburg in the playoffs was fairly close, and who pushed the other finalists close last year, also.
