April 28, 2009 – ErugbyNews had the top four right in their women’s DII college rankings, as Shippensburg, Stonehill, Washington State and Delaware all move on to the national semifinals.
We do, however, swap #1 and #2 around and the same with #3 and #4. Just being contrary? Maybe, but it is all to do with who looked more impressive in the first rounds of the playoffs.
As for the rest of the rankings, they got blown out of the water. Michigan was much stronger than we though – big, tough, and aggressive. Bowdoin moves up simply because they were so close to Stonehill last fall.
Slippery Rock also showed well, prompting us to finally fill out our 25, with Illinois State coming in as a testament to the strength of the Midwest. Minnesota-Duluth moves up too.
Central Florida moves up seven places based on their close loss to Delaware. Moving down because of poor results or by association (they are from the same region as those with poor results) are Wyoming, Wayne State, and Texas Tech.
